Asus G1S series is mainly targeted for laptop gamers, but the system is also very suitable for high performance laptop use. The battery lasts max. 2 hours, so if you take this on to the road, make sure you have power outlet available. As most high performance laptops, Asus G1S generates also quite amount of heat and the fan runs silently most of the time on light load.

Asus G1S is shipped with Vista Home Ultimate, but it can be downgraded to Windows XP. Unfortunately this is not supported officially by Asus, but this can be done with some tweaking - see "Installing Windows XP on Asus G1S". There is also good support for 32-bit and 64-bit Ubuntu and Kubuntu Linux 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, openSUSE 10.3 and Arch Linux.

There are some issues if you upgrade your system to contain more than 2GB of RAM. Asus G1S's BIOS version 205 and earlier have some conflicts with the internal PCI display controller, so the nVidia drivers don't load correctly without tweaking and you will experience sluggish display performance.
