Satisfied with your G1S gaming experience?

Hi folks,

Personally I'm pleased to say that all the games I've played on my G1S perform really well with most (if not all) the graphic features and resolution (that depends on the game) being Crysis the most intensive (or badly coded) game of them all.

However, I can play Crysis at 1280x800 with all set to medium specs and get an average of 25 fps, which is not bad for a sub $1500 dollar machine right?

Games like Half Life 2 Episode 1 and 2 and Portal I can play them in full resolution (1680x1050) with all set to the highest settings at a very comfortable 30 FPS!

Call of Duty 4 is another example of a nice game on the Asus G1S, which in my experience was capable of playing it at 1280x800 full effects at about 30 FPS too.

What are your experiences so far?

I'm hoping that Alan Wake will play smooth on the G1S too… Here's hoping. :)

Cheers!
Rayan

Nice results! Talking bout games - mine are little worse.

Could you plz tell which driver do you use and under which OS do you run your games?
And should i change any settings in nVidia control panel to increase my laptop gaming performance?

Thanks in advance.

Try [http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/] with the modded inf on the latest Nvidia drivers.
I installed the 167.45 version for Vista 32bit with good results on the Call of Duty 4 demo with 1280x720 resolution.
Good luck!

I remember trying the Crysis demo and had to play it at 800x600 or 1024x768 on medium to get around 30fps :x Is that because i used the demo?

Yeah very nice results. I still haven't found a game I can't play, but for Crysis I had to lower resolution (800 x 600) and play with high graphics settings (although with 2x antialising). COD 4 performed very well on 1024 x 768 and so Far Cry 2 (I'm mentioning only heavy duty games). Also I play Medieval 2 on very high with max resolution. The only game with low fps is Empire: Total War, but with the new patch (1.3) I'm expecting much better performance. I've heard that Arma 2 is the heaviest game now in the market, and I wonder if anyone here has tried it. Anyway I'll buy it next week maybe and report you guys the results.

@Sh1ntu: What seems to be the problem? Also, what are you running for OS/Drivers? What are your system specs?

Sorry for the late reply but I totally forgot about this wiki (there's no automated reply notifications)… :(

The thing is that I still use my beloved Asus G1S to play games and more recently I have tried Spore and Fallout Ultimate Carnage with very impresive results.

To answer furman's question, I'm currently using Vista Home Premium and laptopvideo2go.com (169.04) dirvers and RivaTuner to overclock the GPU to 584/817 with more than pleasing results.

I'm not really into 3DBenchmarking but I do use Fraps to measure real life FPS performance and I don't usually settle for less than 25 FPS on racing games and 30 FPS on First person shooting games.

Cheers!

and none of you have over-heating issues, which leads to stuttering?

No. Max temperature of GPU ever (playing Far Cry 2 for about 3 hrs) is 70 degree Celsius, and CPU at 60 degree Celsius.
